EGU General Assembly, Vienna 2014
For the first time, geoethics found space and time at EGU - General Assembly in 2012, thanks to Silvia Peppoloni (NH9.8/EOS9 - Geoethics and natural hazards: communication, education and the science-policy-practice interface).
At EGU 2013, Silvia organized a great session on geoethics (NH9.8 - Geoethics and natural hazards: the role and responsibility of the geoscientists), with a first part dedicated to the L'Aquila earthquake case.
Silvia is a PhD researcher at INGV (Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia - Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Rome).
She is considered a leader among international proponents of geoethics. She is founding member and Secretary General of the International Association for Promoting Geoethics (IAPG: http://www.iapg.geoethics.org) and coordinator of the Section on Geoethics and Geological Culture (http://geoeticaitalia.blogspot.it) inside the Italian Geological Society. She is also the editor of the first volume entirely dedicated to Geoethics ever published by a JCR international journal ("Annals of Geophysics"). She is a member of the Italian Committee on Geoethics of the Italian Federation of Earth Sciences.
In the session NH9.8, he is also co-author with Giuseppe Di Capua of a poster (B370) titled "Geoethics and geoscientists: some ongoing initiatives" (Tuesday, 29 Apr 2014 - Blue posters, 17:30–19:00).
