IAPG-Canada has a new co-coordinator
Shona van Zijll de Jong has been appointed as co-coordinator of IAPG-Canada. She will work together Jan Boon, who was appointed as coordinator in 2017.

Shona is at the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering, Queen's University (Canada). She is on the Advisory Board of the Canada Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction; and a Director on the Board of Canadian Risk and Hazard Network. She has worked as a researcher on various sustainable economic development projects and environmental and economic impact assessments (i.e. drafting the 2015 Geological Survey of Canada Risk Based Land Use Planning guidelines and NSERC/MEOPAR funded coastal hazards/vulnerability analysis). In the past 10 years she has accumulated extensive local, national and international knowledge of multidisciplinary approaches to manage hazard risk in rural and urban environments. Currently, she is building a Compendium of Canadian Groundwater Programs: Resources, Tools and Methods for Indigenous People in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Canada. As the Canadian Geoscience Education Network (CGEN) Digital Strategy Coordinator, she will be advancing CGEN’s outreach efforts for another year or two.
